There is a rapidly growing need in the healthcare industry to connect enrolled plan members and their families with doctors, nurses, and plan administrators. Working with a team of product specialists, developers, and nurses, We designed a product that is clean, easy-to-use, and wholly customizable. Through a component-based framework we give plan administrators as well as members the capacity to talk to a nurse specialist, access their health history, and set personal and program/plan wellness goals.
After studying the products currently available on the market, it was clear that solutions were incredibly varied. One company might have "action plans," another might have "goals," but one thing was clear: all the available systems wanted users to approach their health with a single, monolithic mindset.
We proposed a radical solution: Let users, be they the plan administrator or the plan member, customize the system to fit their needs. What we wound up building is, at it's core, a content management system with integrated healthcare components.
One of the most critical elements of the design included customization of a wide variety of global site settings. No two plans are ever configured the same, and so anticipating their needs right out of the box became a huge objective. What we wound up with is a framework designed to handle the maximum combination of variables and requirements, while minimizing security risks and maintaining data integrity.
Tools include things like drag-and-drop page layouts and component replication. The most critical element was making component customization simple, while still tying back into a complex system of care managers, nurses, doctors, and plan representatives. The platform is still going through it's beta testing, but response among users has been fantastic, and survey results from our fall "product preview" listed the Member Portal as their most anticipated product launch.
